MEJ August charity spotlight
MEJ is helping to make a difference in the ACT community by supporting local charities selected by our staff at our regular morning teas.
St John’s Care
St John’s Care aims to bridge the gap and break the cycle of disadvantage, isolation and economic hardship with compassion, advocacy, respect and encouragement through the provision of emergency relief and other programs.
MEJ team member Maylene said she chose them because of their focus on helping disadvantaged people in Canberra, especially people who are homeless and families who are struggling.
“I have personally donated food and other essentials in the past to St John’s Care as I have a heart for people in need. The volunteers do a great job with support.”
Maylene selected St John’s Care as she knew the donation from MEJ would mean a lot for the charity that solely operates on “the donations they receive from the generosity of the public”.

Menslink
Menslink offers men in the Canberra region free counselling, volunteer mentoring and education programs to help them build important emotional and social skills, like coping with stressful events and teamwork, so they can lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
Team member David nominated Menslink, saying “I believe that men’s mental health is a very serious issue that has not, until recent time, been given enough attention. It is important every man understands that the struggles they go through are serious and that they are enough.”

We are proud to support these important community organisations that make Canberra the brilliant city it is. We are passionate about playing our part too and will share links to charities we support each month to help spread the word. We’ll be announcing next month’s donations in a few weeks.
