Settlement for sexual abuse survivor set aside in landmark MEJ case
Legislative amendments in 2022 mean survivors who have taken settlements can have the agreement set aside if it is unjust or unreasonable.
In a major victory for survivors in the ACT, a man who suffered prolonged sexual abuse at the hands of a former Canberra priest has won a bid to have a settlement agreement set aside as he was unable to read and understand the agreement.
MEJ Senior Associate, Hassan Ehsan, represented the survivor in court and spoke to 2CC about the outcome.
