MEJ act for a number of survivors who allege they experienced sexual and physical abuse while in detention at both Quamby Youth Detention Centre and Bimberi Youth Justice Centre.

There is no doubt that there’s a significant amount of abuse over a number of years involving numerous perpetrators from both Quamby and Bimberi following on from the abuse we have seen in youth detention centres in other states and territories including the Northern Territory, Victoria, New South Wales and in Tasmania.

MEJ have also been contacted by a number of past workers who have provided corroborative evidence of what they saw and how they were silenced when they attempted to raise their concerns with management.

Leading the investigations into these cases is MEJ Special Counsel Thomas Wallace-Pannell, who brings extensive experience in compensation law across Australia.

If you experienced abuse while in the care of an institution such as Quamby Youth Detention Centre or Bimberi Youth Justice Centre, MEJ invites you to contact Mr Wallace-Pannell for a confidential discussion about your experiences or to provide witness information on current or historic incidents in youth detention centres.
