Meet Thomas Wallace-Pannell: setting the gold standard in compensation law
With 16 years of experience across Australia’s legal landscape, Thomas Wallace-Pannell has established himself as a leader in compensation law. Joining MEJ as Special Counsel in 2024, Thomas has managed hundreds of institutional abuse cases across NSW, TAS, VIC, WA and the ACT.
Thomas’ legal journey began at the University of Tasmania, where he established a strong foundation that would propel his career. His path took a significant turn when he accepted a position as a Judge’s Associate in the Northern Territory, followed by a role as a Prosecutor with the Northern Territory Director of Public Prosecutions.
“It’s important with cases of institutional abuse that you have a lawyer that is understanding, experienced, and compassionate. Someone who will help you move through the process in a way that is safe and supported.”
These formative experiences have honed his skills and deepened his understanding of the justice system. After relocating to Canberra in 2015, Thomas discovered his true calling in personal injury litigation.
“So many people who seek compensation deserve better.” Thomas says.
“It’s a privilege to be able to represent someone in their most vulnerable moments, to protect their rights, and give them options for the future.”
