The MEJ team is excited to welcome solicitor Kaylie Edwards, who brings three years of specialised experience in personal injury law to the firm.

With a focus on medical negligence and historical abuse matters, Kaylie is passionate about helping clients navigate what are often the most difficult periods of their lives with clarity, compassion, and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes.

“A lot of my clients are going through tough times and have been through something highly traumatic,” Kaylie explains. “I try to make things as clear and stress-free as possible whilst fighting for a good outcome.”

Kaylie’s approach combines directness with genuine empathy, a balance her clients particularly value. “Most clients value honesty more than anything,” she says. “Building that rapport where you can have honest conversations is truly valuable to them.”

For Kaylie, the most rewarding aspect of personal injury law is seeing the direct impact of her work. “Being able to help clients get compensation and some sense of closure after they’ve been through something traumatic is really rewarding,” she notes.

Kaylie’s path to law was driven by a simple motivation: helping people. “Growing up I always wanted to be a lawyer,” she says. “I feel like I’m doing that by working in personal injury.”

Her decision to join MEJ was influenced by the firm’s reputation as one of the leading personal injury practices in the ACT. “That really stood out to me in wanting to continue my journey and growth as a personal injury lawyer,” Kaylie explains.

When asked about career highlights, Kaylie doesn’t point to a single moment. “Each time I resolve a matter and achieve a good outcome for a client, that just adds to the highlights,” she says.

For anyone studying or considering law, Kaylie has clear advice: get practical experience early. “Start working in a law firm whilst you’re studying,” she recommends. “One of the most valuable things I did was start working in a law firm halfway through my degree.”

“It gives you the opportunity to see what practising law is really like, and to work out what you might want to do when you finish. Oftentimes you end up practising an area of law you just fall into and find out that you love it.”

When she’s not advocating for clients, Kaylie enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching football, reading, travelling, going on walks, and listening to podcasts. A relative newcomer to Canberra, she’s been living in the capital for just over three years and has settled on the northside.
