MEJ Charity Spotlight: Diversity ACT and Roundabout Canberra

Each month at MEJ we are excited to share some incredible work across the Canberra community, and our latest charity spotlights are Diversity ACT and Roundabout Canberra.

Roundabout Canberra was nominated for their dedication to ensuring every child gets a safe start in life. Roundabout Canberra provides safe, high-quality, essential baby and children’s items to families in need, operating on the principle that every family deserves dignity.

Working closely with social services partners, Roundabout Canberra focuses on providing essential items so that other support services can concentrate on addressing families’ broader needs. Their work ensures the safety, wellbeing and dignity of children and their families during challenging times. In 2023 the charity helped more than 4000 local children, and they continue to work with over 500 social workers in the ACT and surrounding regions. 

The second charity chosen this month was Diversity ACT for their vital role in creating safety and inclusion for LGBTIAQ+ people across the ACT region. Operating from the Diversity Hub in Kambah, they serve as a community-led organisation that connects with all levels of society and government.

Diversity ACT acts as both a recreational community service hub and advocacy organisation, working tirelessly to empower and build an inclusive environment where LGBTIAQ+ people can thrive. Their strategic partnerships and community resources demonstrate their commitment to fostering learning and celebration within the community.
