Kate is a nationally accredited mediator specialising in commercial disputes, particularly those involving cross-cultural issues. Kate draws on her experiences of living in various Asian and European countries, and on her studies in cross-cultural communication and dispute resolution, to help people find solutions that work for them.
Kate is an experienced solicitor and litigator, who has previously worked overseas as a university lecturer in business law and financial management; and as a senior legal and policy adviser to educational institutions and not-for-profit companies. Kate has completed a Master’s Degree in Law (ANU), Master’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting) (UNSW), Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) (USyd) and Bachelor of Arts (Spanish/Linguistics) (USyd). She is currently undertaking a PhD in Law at the ANU.
Kate grew up in Canberra and is active in the local community, particularly through her volunteer work. She currently serves as Vice President on the board of one of Australia’s highest-profile not-for-profit companies, Amnesty International Australia; and as a director on the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. She is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). She has been active on committees with the ACT Law Society, Australian Lawyers for Human Rights, Australian Society for Association Executives and others.
Kate speaks fluent Spanish and several other languages.
